Stephen A. Smith appeared on Chris Cuomo’s show, CUOMO, and had some harsh words about how big business (NFL) and the medical community recently handled Tua Tagovailoa’s two recent concussion injuries.

It’s Not the Crime, It’s the Coverup

According to a summary from News Nation, “Smith called the Miami Dolphins handling of Tua Tagovailoa’s head injury “egregious” and called for someone to be fired in wake of the controversy.”

“And this is the problem I think the Miami Dolphins have, you have a coach in Mike McDaniel who is a first-year coach, he’s doing a hell of a job, we don’t want to accuse anybody of doing anything wrong intentionally,” Smith said.

“But the doubling down, the ‘we handled everything properly, we did nothing wrong. I completely co-sign with what procedural issues we followed.’ No. Can’t do that based on what we’ve seen here.”

The Coverup Blinds the Root Cause Analysis

Hearing the interview live was even more impactful. Smith went on to say that the system is to blame, not just the private physician who is being blamed for misdiagnosis.

“You best believe there is going to be long-term ramifications if Tua Tagovailoa is seriously injured,” said Smith.
